| Population 395, in 1887 the Chicago,
Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroads established a depot and the village
of Ute was born. Ute was named after a Ute Indian who had
befriended the settlers.
Ute is located at the junction of Hwy 141 and Hwy 183 just 20
miles from Denison, 58 miles from Sioux City, and 85 miles from
Council Bluffs.
Ute is served by MidAmerican Energy. There are
approximately 40 acres of land designated for development under the
Iowa Enterprise Zone Tax Incentive Program.
